Bitcoin Holds $80,000 Demand Zone as On-Chain Metrics Point to Moderate Profit-Taking

Bitcoin is attempting to stabilize around $82.8K after successfully defending the critical $80K demand zone, leaving the asset positioned between a potential relief bounce to $84K and a deeper pullback toward $77K.

  • Price Action: Bitcoin trades at $82.8K, holding above the $80K demand zone after facing rejection near $88K.
  • Technical Levels: Short-term resistance stands at $84K and $86K, with major support at $77K and $70K.
  • On-Chain Signal: CryptoQuant's 30-day aSOPR EMA cooled to 1.013, remaining below the 1.05–1.08 peaks recorded during 2024 and 2025 rallies.

Technical Analysis: $80K Support Zone Holds

On the daily chart, Bitcoin continues to move inside an ascending channel guiding recovery since late-June lows near $58K. A sharp late-September rally pushed price to the upper boundary near the $88K supply zone—the origin of the late-January breakdown. Sellers rejected the price twice at $88K in late September and early October, pulling BTC back toward the channel midpoint converging near $80K.

On the 4-hour timeframe, BTC has logged lower highs since dropping from the $86K–$88K region, with rebounds stalling near $84K. However, buyers have repeatedly absorbed selling pressure at the $80K demand zone, forming a bullish fair value gap. A successful retest of this imbalance could propel BTC toward $84K and $86K, while a breakout above $88K opens targets toward $90K. Conversely, losing $80K exposes the $77K order block, with the lower channel line sitting near $70K alongside downside risk to $75K.

This level has proven critical as Bitcoin rebounds to $82,500 as $80,000 support faces market tests.

On-Chain Data: Profit Realization Cools

According to CryptoQuant data, the 30-day exponential moving average of the Adjusted Spent Output Profit Ratio (aSOPR) peaked near 1.013 in early October and has begun turning downward. The metric dropped below 1 in early 2026, reaching 0.98 in February during BTC's slide toward $60K, before dipping below 1 again in June and rising continuously since July.

The current 1.013 level sits significantly below historical bull market peaks of 1.05–1.08 seen in 2024 and 2025, indicating that overall profit-taking remains moderate rather than euphoric. Meanwhile, corporate treasury accumulation has continued in parallel, as seen when Strive and Strategy buy 1,490 Bitcoin for $123M.

Why It Matters

Bitcoin's ongoing defense of the $80K channel midpoint shows that buyers are maintaining the macro recovery structure despite repeated rejections at $88K. The pullback in 30-day aSOPR to 1.013 suggests that profit-taking is cooling naturally rather than triggering heavy panic selling across the network. If buyers can push past the $84K lower-high threshold, BTC retains a viable path to retest overhead resistance at $88K and $90K.
