XRP and DOGE MVRV Ratios Sink Deep Into Negative Territory Amid Market Pullback

On-chain data from market intelligence firm Santiment shows a stark divergence among top crypto assets, with XRP and Dogecoin (DOGE) sinking deep into negative territory on 365-day Market Value to Realized Value (MVRV) ratios while Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Chainlink (LINK) remain slightly above 0%.

MVRV Ratios Reveal Deep Unrealized Losses

According to Santiment, XRP's 365-day MVRV ratio stands at -11.75%, whereas DOGE is even lower at -19.26%. Negative readings indicate that average market participants holding these assets over the past year are currently sitting on unrealized losses. Conversely, BTC, ETH, and LINK feature MVRV levels slightly above 0%, meaning their annual holders remain marginally profitable.

Santiment noted that assets significantly below 0% often present unique risk-reward setups because lower unrealized profits decrease immediate selling pressure. "BTC, ETH, and LINK aren't suddenly 'bad buys' just because their MVRV is slightly positive," Santiment stated. "But when comparing opportunities, assets far below 0% often deserve extra attention. The deeper the losses compared with other coins, the more interesting the setup can become."

Technical Resistance and Spot ETF Activity

The negative metrics follow a market cooling period where XRP dropped more than 7% over 24 hours to trade near $1.48. Crypto analyst Ali Martinez highlighted $1.60 as the critical price level for XRP, stating that "everything comes down to $1.60." A decisive breakout above $1.60 could confirm a bullish pattern and trigger a 30% rally toward $2, building on wider momentum seen across XRP whale accumulation and spot ETF interest.

DOGE also stumbled in the latest pullback, dropping 6.6%. The meme coin faced headwinds after Bitwise announced plans to shut down its spot DOGE ETF, BWOW, after approximately 10 months to optimize its product offerings. BWOW was scheduled to trade on NYSE Arca until October 14 prior to liquidation. Despite the closure, broader demand for US spot DOGE ETFs showed signs of resilience, absorbing $909,650 on Monday and $1.2 million on Tuesday to push weekly net inflows above $2 million.

Key Takeaways

  • XRP 365-day MVRV dropped to -11.75%, while DOGE 365-day MVRV reached -19.26%.
  • XRP slid over 7% to $1.48, and DOGE decreased 6.6% in a 24-hour market pullback.
  • Technical analyst Ali Martinez identified $1.60 as key resistance for XRP, with a target of $2 upon breakout.
  • US spot DOGE ETFs registered $909,650 in inflows on Monday and $1.2 million on Tuesday, exceeding $2 million in weekly net inflows.

Why It Matters

Deeply negative MVRV levels often act as a double-edged sword for crypto investors. While heavy unrealized losses reflect recent underperformance, they also flush out short-term speculative leverage and reduce the probability of aggressive profit-taking. If broader market liquidity recovers, assets trading at significant MVRV discounts may experience sharper rebound trajectories than assets where holders are already sitting on profits.
