Ripple's native token XRP fell below $1.30 on Thursday before recovering slightly around $1.33, amidst broad market choppy price action and declining spot trading volume. Despite ongoing weakness, technical analysts suggest that the token's volatile structure could mimic historical bottoming formations preceding major macro moves.
Technical Patterns Point to Potential Bottoming
Analyst EGRAG CRYPTO highlighted in a three-month chart evaluation that XRP is displaying characteristics similar to three previous bottoming structures. These prior cycles were marked by nonlinear, chaotic, and time-consuming price action rather than immediate V-shaped rebounds. Although EGRAG noted that a bottom is not yet confirmed, extended volatility historically exhausts market participants before a sustainable recovery occurs.
This consolidation comes as crypto market corrections put XRP support levels to the test. Analyst Bird pointed to a primary demand zone between $1.30 and $1.34, noting that breaking overhead resistance between $1.52 and $1.56 could clear a path toward $2.00. However, XRP's recent rejection at that resistance zone keeps immediate momentum constrained.
Exchange Metrics and Long-Term Targets
Data from CryptoQuant showed that the gap between whale and retail XRP outflows on Binance widened sharply between October 7 and October 13, signaling shifting activity among key market participants. Meanwhile, combined spot trading volume across centralized exchanges dropped by nearly $2 billion between late August and mid-October.
Evaluating the token's 21-, 50-, and 100-month exponential moving averages (EMAs) alongside historical fractals, EGRAG outlined key technical levels:
- Demand Zone: $1.30 to $1.34
- Key Resistance: $1.52 to $1.56, targeting $2.00
- Major Breakout Trigger: The 2025 high of $3.67
- Fibonacci Targets: $5.25, $6.33, and $8.28
- Macro Target: $13.69
Why It Matters
While multi-dollar targets remain highly speculative projections amid suppressed trading volume, XRP's ability to hold the $1.30 floor is essential for short-term structural stability. As past market cycles demonstrate, broad adoption and liquidity remain crucial, especially after a former Ripple adviser warned tech alone will not guarantee adoption. Traders will likely focus on whether exchange volume recovers and if buyers can reclaim the $1.52-$1.56 range to validate a broader macro reversal.
