Bitcoin Simulation Model Projects $1.03 Million Target by February 2033

On-chain analyst Willy Woo has released findings from 10,000 Monte Carlo random-walk simulations, showing that Bitcoin (BTC) would reach a median target of $1.03 million in February 2033.

Monte Carlo Model Maps Cycle Peaks and Drawdowns

Woo's simulation model trained on price data from the 2018 market bottom to the 2022 market bottom, excluding earlier data when 100x gains were frequent. Woo noted that derivatives, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and fast liquidations better represent the current market structure. Using a power-law decay setting of 0.45, the model factors in diminishing percentage returns with each market cycle.

Key takeaways from the simulation paths include:

  • Median Path (50th Percentile): Tops at $413,000 in December 2028, falls 43% to $234,000 by April 2030, and hits $1.03 million in February 2033.
  • 29th Percentile Path: Reaches a cycle high of $241,000 in December 2028 and drops to $126,000 in April 2030, never reaching $1 million.
  • 90th Percentile Path: Reaches $1.44 million in March 2029.
  • 10th Percentile Path: Declines to $51,900 by April 2030.

Woo identified a 2028 cycle top between $241,000 and $413,000 as a reasonable expectation, while emphasizing that the model is a statistical simulation rather than a price prediction. All four highlighted paths register cycle highs between December 2028 and March 2029, aligning with a separate 500-day halving rule that projects a sell window in 2029.

Power-Law Decay and Structural Market Limits

The 29th percentile path matches historical cycles where Bitcoin's bear market bottoms bounced off prior peak levels. However, Woo cautioned that any fundamental structural shift in the market would invalidate the assumptions. As institutional players participate in large-scale transactions—such as Strive's 6,182 BTC purchase for $511.4M—the market continues to balance macro adoption against power-law return decay.

Why It Matters

This simulation model illustrates how power-law decay extends the timeline required for Bitcoin to reach seven-figure price targets. While retail market expectations often focus on rapid growth, quantitative analysis suggests long-term holders may face extended consolidation phases and drawdowns exceeding 40% between cycles. Investors must weigh diminishing cycle multiples against growing institutional participation when projecting multi-year asset performance.
