Bitcoin (BTC) has recovered to around $82,000 after dipping below $80,000, but technical analysts warn that the cryptocurrency faces significant risk of another deep correction before reaching new record highs.
- Immediate Resistance: BTC must clear $84,000 to target $87,000–$88,000, according to analyst Daan Crypto Trade.
- Correction Risk: Analyst EGRAG CRYPTO notes a 2023 fractal pattern could trigger a 22% drop to $68,000 before a rally toward $114,000–$125,000.
- Profit Realization: Over $1 billion in profits were taken after BTC last climbed past $87,000.
Key Resistance Levels and Macro Headwinds
Analyst Daan Crypto Trade noted that Bitcoin managed to sweep liquidity while defending its daily close during the recent dip. However, he emphasized that the asset must reclaim at least $84,000 in the coming trading days. Consolidating below $84,000 leaves the asset vulnerable to a move south, while a successful recovery above it would put untapped highs between $87,000 and $88,000 back in focus.
Buyer momentum remains constrained following macroeconomic pressure earlier this week from a higher-than-expected September Consumer Price Index (CPI) reading, which previously caused Bitcoin to hit a monthly low below $80,000.
Fractal Models Signal Potential $68,000 Shakeout
Analyst EGRAG CRYPTO argued that another substantial pullback would not mean the end of the bull market. Utilizing a 2023 fractal in which BTC experienced a 22% pullback prior to its next expansion wave, EGRAG calculated a potential decline to $68,000. He pinpointed $84,800 as the 0.5 Fibonacci battlefield and $68,000 as a possible shakeout zone before a projected move toward $114,000–$125,000.
From an onchain perspective, analyst CryptoGoos highlighted BTC's supply in profit metric, recommending accumulation when the percentage drops toward historical support and taking profits once it exceeds 80%. He expects multiple local tops this cycle rather than a single vertical rise. Additionally, BTC has stayed above its 50-week moving average for several consecutive weeks, though it continues to face strong resistance between $86,000 and $89,000 after over $1 billion in profits were realized during its last visit above $87,000.
Why It Matters
The tension between short-term macro headwinds and long-term fractal models underscores a critical testing phase for Bitcoin. A potential drop to $68,000 would clear out excess leverage while testing structural support before any attempt at new high targets. Market participants should keep a close eye on the $84,000 pivot level, as failing to break above it keeps lower price targets in active play.
