Bitcoin ETFs Pull In $304M as Ethereum Funds Suffer Fourth Week of Outflows

US spot Bitcoin ETFs broke a two-week losing streak to post $304.77 million in weekly net inflows, even as spot Ethereum ETFs extended their decline with $220 million in net outflows over the same period. The divergent performance highlights a growing liquidity gap between the two leading crypto asset products.

Key Takeaways:

  • Spot Bitcoin ETFs ended the week with $304.77 million in net inflows despite a severe $635.49 million outflow on Thursday.
  • Spot Ethereum ETFs suffered their fourth consecutive negative week, losing $220 million across five trading days.
  • Total cumulative net inflows for Bitcoin ETFs reached nearly $57.2 billion, whereas cumulative Ethereum ETF totals fell below $12.75 billion.

Bitcoin ETFs Recover Despite Mid-Week Outflow Surge

The trading week started with strong demand for Bitcoin ETFs, snapping two straight weeks of net redemptions. On Monday, institutional vehicles logged $526.60 million in net inflows, followed by $23.16 million on Tuesday as BTC registered its first price gain of the week. Momentum accelerated on Wednesday when Bitcoin reached $85,000 for the first time in two weeks, driving $528.50 million into the funds.

However, a sharp price rejection triggered heavy late-week withdrawals. According to SoSoValue data, Thursday net outflows reached $635.49 million, marking the highest single-day redemptions since late June. Farside data showed an additional $137.9 million exited on Friday. Despite the pullback, overall weekly net additions reached $304.77 million, bringing cumulative Bitcoin ETF net inflows from under $56.9 billion to almost $57.2 billion.

Ethereum ETFs Extend Bleeding to Four Weeks

In contrast, spot Ethereum ETFs faced persistent selling pressure, marking their fourth straight negative week. The downturn began in late September, with products recording just three positive inflow days over the past month. The week opened with $103.28 million leaving ETH funds on Monday, followed by $26.13 million in outflows on Tuesday.

Although Wednesday offered temporary relief with almost $15 million in net inflows, withdrawals resumed Thursday as investors pulled $110.50 million. Farside reported a minor Friday inflow of $4.4 million, closing the week at $220 million in net redemptions. Total cumulative ETH ETF net inflows have dropped from near $14 billion in late September to under $12.75 billion, coinciding with broader market volatility where spot ETFs bleed $1.18 billion in ongoing momentum struggles as ETH trades near $2,350 following an over 4% weekly drop.

Why It Matters

The widening gap between Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF flows illustrates shifting institutional preferences amid wider market leverage resets seen across the crypto market. Bitcoin continues to absorb major capital allocations during short-term relief rallies, benefiting from its established status as a macro hedge. Conversely, Ethereum funds face ongoing demand headwinds as institutional investors evaluate network yield dynamics and broader altcoin weakness, leaving ETH vulnerable until persistent fund redemptions abate.
