Smart Contract

Self-executing code on a blockchain that runs exactly as programmed.

A smart contract is a program stored on a blockchain that runs automatically when its conditions are met — no middleman required. It might swap two tokens, release funds, or mint an NFT.

Because the code is public and runs as written, smart contracts are transparent and predictable. But bugs are permanent and exploitable, which is why audits matter.
