Altcoin
Any cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin.
Altcoin is short for "alternative coin" — essentially any cryptocurrency that isn't Bitcoin. The term covers everything from large, established projects like Ethereum to thousands of small, speculative tokens.
Altcoins range widely in quality and risk, so research matters before buying any of them.
