Swiss and EU-regulated digital asset custody platform The Vault is expanding its technical infrastructure operations to Tbilisi, Georgia, through a newly established engineering hub operating as Tría Labs.
The dedicated research and product development facility will work directly alongside the institutional provider's existing offices in Zug, Switzerland, and Limassol, Cyprus. Specialists at the new Tbilisi location will focus on scaling The Vault's core proprietary Multi-Party Computation (MPC) library—which underwent an independent security audit by Halborn this year—and expanding its Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and on-premise solutions used by banks, fintechs, and asset managers.
Dedicated Engineering Center for Regulated Infrastructure
All licensed financial activities and custodial services will remain strictly within The Vault's existing regulated corporate structures. Crypto-asset services across European markets are delivered by Tría Bridge Ltd, which holds a MiCA crypto-asset service provider license (013/24) from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC), as well as SwissZeit Capital AG, a member of Switzerland's VQF self-regulatory organization.
The firm noted that administrative, banking, tax, and employment arrangements in Georgia are currently being finalized, with the first wave of engineering specialists slated to start in the coming months. The strategic push into regional tech hubs aligns with broader industry shifts as firms navigate evolving regulatory mandates, similar to how adjacent Eurasian markets enforce strict exchange frameworks like Kazakhstan's licensing mandates.
"Everything we offer our clients is built on our own technology, so giving the people who create it the best possible base is a priority for us," said Artem Stopnevich, Chief Executive Officer of The Vault. "Tbilisi offers exactly that: an open, talented and rapidly growing tech scene, and a city where our team can settle for the long term."
Key Takeaways
- Regional Expansion: The Vault is opening an R&D hub in Tbilisi, Georgia, operating under local company Tría Labs.
- Technical Scope: Engineers will advance proprietary MPC custody software audited by Halborn, alongside enterprise SaaS and on-premise systems.
- Regulatory Boundaries: Licensed services remain under Tría Bridge Ltd (CySEC license 013/24) and SwissZeit Capital AG (VQF member).
- Deployment Timeline: Final employment and operational setups are underway, with initial staffing expected in the coming months.
Why It Matters
As implementation of the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework accelerates institutional adoption, demand for audited, institutional-grade custody technology is surging. By establishing an R&D entity in Georgia while maintaining regulated client-facing entities in Cyprus and Switzerland, The Vault separates software development from regulatory overhead. This structure enables the company to tap into Eastern Europe's growing technical talent pool without compromising its European regulatory compliance.
