On October 27, enterprise blockchain provider Ripple announced a partnership with working capital platform C2FO to integrate the XRP Ledger (XRPL) and RLUSD stablecoin into C2FO Instant Pay, enabling instant payment settlement for corporate suppliers.
Commercial Settlement via XRPL and RLUSD
The initiative targets traditional delays in business-to-business transactions where suppliers wait days for bank transfers to clear even after early invoice approval. Under the arrangement, participating capital providers will fund payments while settlement occurs on the XRPL, leaving existing invoice terms and payment due dates unchanged.
Ripple's US dollar-anchored stablecoin, RLUSD, serves as the settlement asset. RLUSD has grown to a total market capitalization exceeding $2.5 billion, with more than $1 billion issued directly on the XRP Ledger.
"Working capital is a powerful example of where blockchain can make an existing financial market work better," said Markus Infanger, Senior Vice President of RippleX at Ripple. "C2FO brings an established marketplace, real commercial activity and demonstrated financing demand. XRPL is well suited to this use case because it can represent and move financial assets with fast, deterministic settlement and low transaction costs, while RLUSD provides a stable way to settle those transactions."
Key Takeaways
- C2FO Instant Pay will use XRPL and RLUSD to settle corporate invoice payments in seconds.
- RLUSD market capitalization has surpassed $2.5 billion, with over $1 billion deployed on XRPL.
- BNY expanded its digital asset custody partnership with Ripple to support XRP and RLUSD.
- Ripple confirmed final approval for Ripple National Trust Bank from the US OCC.
Expanded BNY Custody and Enterprise Services
In a parallel announcement, Ripple revealed an expanded partnership with BNY to support XRP and RLUSD custody on the bank's digital asset platform. The two institutions will explore tokenized trade finance while allowing BNY clients to mint and redeem RLUSD directly through the bank.
The developments follow several updates unveiled at Swell 2026, including AI-powered workflow automation and 24/7 Returns via Ripple Treasury, enabling eligible businesses to earn yield on qualifying digital assets outside standard banking hours. Additionally, CEO Brad Garlinghouse confirmed that Ripple secured an OCC National Bank Charter for Ripple National Trust Bank, bringing federally supervised oversight to RLUSD reserves and custody services.
Why It Matters
This partnership marks a significant transition for stablecoins from speculative trading instruments into real-world supply chain finance. By embedding RLUSD settlement directly into C2FO's established invoice platform, Ripple is tackling the multi-trillion-dollar friction of corporate working capital delays. Combined with direct minting support from BNY and federal trust oversight, this integration creates a scalable blueprint for institutional enterprise blockchain adoption.
