Hong Kong FinTech Week 2026 Expects 45,000 Participants as Lineup Unveiled

Hong Kong officials announced on Oct. 23 that Hong Kong FinTech Week x StartmeupHK 2026 will take place from Nov. 2 to Nov. 6, expecting more than 45,000 participants from over 120 economies. The flagship event marks the official launch of China's National 15th Five-Year Plan and Hong Kong's First Five-Year Plan (2026-2030).

Key Event Details and Speaker Lineup

Regional Connectivity and Strategic Priorities

Christopher Hui, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, confirmed that the official theme for this edition is "Fintech Nexus: Bridging the World, Building the Future." Hui highlighted how the city's financial technology capabilities continue to support development across gold and commodity markets, building upon Hong Kong's top rank for fintech in the latest Global Financial Centres Index.

Invest Hong Kong Director-General of Investment Promotion Alpha Lau emphasized that Finance+, AI+, and global expansion serve as three key engines that "reflect the city's strategic priorities: driving innovation and economic development, transforming industries, and enabling multi-market growth."

The event expects more than 30 delegations from mainland China, including Beijing and Shenzhen, along with international groups from North America, Europe, the Gulf Cooperation Council region, and Central Asia. Attendees can also participate in business matching across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, including a two-day executive tour to Shenzhen. As institutional focus turns toward regulatory frameworks and digital assets, regional developments parallel broader movements in Asia-Pacific financial markets and growing institutional adoption of tokenized fund structures.

Why It Matters

Hong Kong's structured push to link Web3 infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and traditional finance illustrates its determination to maintain its role as Asia's primary financial gateway. By inviting regulatory leaders from the United Kingdom and Pakistan alongside domestic regulators, Hong Kong is attempting to build cross-border consensus on digital asset oversight. Market participants should monitor the event for concrete policy updates regarding tokenization standards, commodity market connectivity, and Greater Bay Area financial integration.
