Circle has partnered with payments provider Tereina to integrate USDC and EURC stablecoin payments into SAP Pay, enabling business clients to execute and reconcile corporate invoices directly within their SAP Cloud ERP software.
Enterprise Integration and Circle Mint Requirements
Following SAP's October 6 launch of SAP Pay, Circle announced on October 7 that its stablecoins will serve as digital settlement options inside the enterprise platform. USDC will function as the preferred stablecoin for U.S. dollar-denominated workflows, while EURC provides an option for euro-denominated payment activity.
To access the settlement route, corporate finance departments must maintain an institutional Circle Mint account, which connects directly to the SAP stack via an API to mint, redeem, and manage tokens. Individual applicants are excluded from Circle Mint. Onboarding requires background checks, identity verification, Know-Your-Customer (KYC) checks, and sanctions screening, with processing taking one day to a week or longer. Additionally, Circle's wire guidance mandates an account in the institution's name that wires directly to Circle's U.S. bank account, excluding redemptions for accounts requiring an intermediary bank.
Geographical Limits and Corporate Implementation
Regional availability introduces specific compliance boundaries for prospective corporate users. SAP's Connect guide states that SAP Pay is generally available in the United States and United Kingdom, though separate product terms limit transaction processing to entities domiciled in the US or European Union unless documented otherwise. As regulatory compliance deepens globally, such as EU stablecoin compliance rules, corporate software integrations face distinct territorial constraints.
Meanwhile, corporate demand for digital financial infrastructure continues to expand as institutional firms expand multi-custody infrastructure. Over the coming months, Tereina and Circle plan to roll out joint customer proof-of-value programs to train treasury specialists and monitor adoption metrics.
- USDC and EURC are now integrated into SAP Pay via payment processor Tereina.
- Access requires an institutional Circle Mint account subject to KYC verification taking one day to over a week.
- Availability targets corporate accounts in the US, UK, and EU under specific domicile conditions.
Why It Matters
Embedding stablecoins directly into enterprise resource planning software like SAP represents a structural shift toward normalizing blockchain settlement in corporate treasury management. By offering USDC and EURC alongside traditional banking rails, Circle targets cross-border supplier payments and intercompany transfers without forcing finance teams to leave their existing software stack. However, strict institutional onboarding criteria and strict banking wire requirements demonstrate that enterprise adoption will progress through established compliance gates rather than friction-free permissionless rails.
