Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has announced the upcoming termination of all services for Epic Chain (EPIC) and QuickSwap (QUICK), triggering an immediate 15% drop for EPIC and a 22% decline for QUICK.
Delisting Schedule and Network Maintenance Details
According to Binance, support for EPIC and QUICK will end in phases. The platform will remove both assets from its Copy Trading section on October 21, followed by the complete removal of all spot trading pairs on October 28. Deposits of EPIC and QUICK will not be credited to user accounts starting October 29, while withdrawal support will remain available through December 28.
In a parallel announcement, Binance confirmed it will conduct wallet maintenance for the Ethereum (ETH) network on October 15. To facilitate the upgrade, deposits and withdrawals on Ethereum will be temporarily suspended for approximately one hour. Trading of Ethereum-based assets will not be impacted during the routine procedure.
Exchange Review Criteria and Prior Delistings
Binance explained that periodic project evaluations consider several core factors, including trading volume, market liquidity, developer commitment, network security against attacks, and overall industry alignment. Assets that fail to meet these standards are subject to removal.
A similar removal round occurred in August, when Binance delisted Across Protocol (ACX), Hashflow (HFT), PIVX (PIVX), Vulcan Forged PYR (PYR), Vanar (VANRY), and Viction (VIC), which likewise resulted in double-digit price declines across the affected tokens as liquidity shifted, similar to market reactions during regulatory actions against foreign exchanges.
Key Takeaways
- EPIC plunged 15% and QUICK fell 22% following the announcement.
- Copy Trading ends October 21, with spot trading terminating on October 28.
- Deposits cease to credit after October 29; withdrawals close on December 28.
- Ethereum (ETH) network deposits and withdrawals pause for one hour on October 15.
Why It Matters
Centralized exchange delistings demonstrate how heavily altcoin market liquidity relies on primary venues like Binance. For lower-cap protocols like Epic Chain and QuickSwap, the loss of exchange access often drives sharp contractions in trading activity and forces project teams to migrate liquidity toward decentralized protocols or secondary venues. Traders holding EPIC or QUICK should account for potential slippage and heightened volatility prior to the October 28 spot trading deadline.
